When it comes to websites and applications that promise you passive income, there are quite a few that exist today. There are applications that promise to pay you for your unused internet bandwidth or compensate you for watching ads. There are also apps that pay you for receiving SMS, and one such application is called McMoney. But, is it actually legit or a complete scam?
In this review, I will be covering McMoney in-depth in order to find out if it’s actually legitimate or something that you should be avoiding. Let’s get started!
What exactly is McMoney?
McMoney is an application that pays users for receiving SMS messages on their phone. The app states that by allowing them to send text messages to your phone, you are helping them test and improve mobile operations and assisting mobile operators to work together.
How can you start earning with McMoney?
Getting started with McMoney is a simple and a straightforward process:
1. Download the application
2. Register your phone number
3. Receive SMS to earn money
As soon as you have registered your phone number successfully, the McMoney app will start sending you SMS text messages at random intervals. Each message usually pays around $0.02. McMoney states that the amount of SMS messages you receive within a given week varies and that the best way to ensure you get more messages is to keep a stable internet connection with your phone.
How much money can you earn?
Like mentioned previously, on average you will earn around 0.02$ per each SMS message that your number receives. This could go up to 0.06$ per message depending on your location. Since it is completely random as to when you receive messages, unfortunately it is very difficult to exactly predict how much you can earn. One day you could receive 5 messages while the next day there might be no incoming messages.
For the most part, in my personal experience and from what I have seen online, you should be able to cash out $5 2-3 times in a year. The amount earned can go up if you participate in McMoney’s referral program.
To boost your earnings, you can invite your friends to join McMoney. Both you and the one who uses your referral code will get a bonus. You can share your code with as many people as you like.
How do you cash out?
At the current moment, only PayPal is supported for withdrawing your earnings. The minimum amount required in order to cash out is $2, although this can vary depending on your region.
Once the minimum threshold is reached, a Cash Out and Donate button will appear in the Start screen. Click on ‘Cash Out’ and enter the email address that is connected to your PayPal account. It’s important to note that it may take up to 4 weeks for the payment to hit your account.
Is McMoney safe to use?
Yes, McMoney is safe to use. With the app running in the background you will only receive text messages but never send out any.
The McMoney application is developed, owned and operated by CM.com, a respected member in the telecommunications industry. Their privacy policy explains the way they process, store and protect your personal information.

Closing comments
So, is McMoney really legitimate or should you be avoiding it?
McMoney is a legitimate mobile application that pays you for each text message that your number receives. Apart from the initial setup it is completely passive income so there’s really not much effort involved in using the application. However, you don’t really get paid that much and the frequency of receiving messages is completely random, so it should absolutely not be relied upon as consistent income.
